• About Mark O'Connor
  • Mark O’Connor joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in April 2002, following a 27-year career in the United States Marine Corps. A combat decorated veteran, he served as an aviator and squadron commander, attained the rank of lieutenant colonel, and received awards including the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit.   

    Mark is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. He earned the Certified Financial Planner™ designation from the College for Financial Planning’s CFP® Certification Professional Education Program, and the Chartered Financial Consultant™ designation from the American College. A member of the Financial Planning Association and Financial Services Institute, Mark holds Series 6, 63 and 65 securities licenses plus life and health, annuities, and property and casualty insurance licenses.

    As a First Command Financial Advisor, Mark advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. Through a values-centered approach to financial planning and a client-first philosophy, Mark is committed to helping his clients plan confidently for the future and to accompanying them on their financial journey.

    Married and the father of three adult children, Mark enjoys hunting, fishing, canoeing, back country skiing and orienteering.
