First Command is a proud sponsor of the Naval Academy Athletic Association
FORT WORTH, Texas – First Command Financial Services, Inc., is proud to team up with the Naval Academy Athletic Association in a long–term sports sponsorship agreement benefitting the midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy.
The four–year relationship kicks off with the start of the 2017 football season. First Command is partnering with the Academy in a variety of support activities, including sponsorship of the Nov. 11 game between the Navy Midshipmen and the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. First Command will also support the basketball and lacrosse teams and serve as the presenting sponsor for the annual Athletic Leadership Dinner and Sport Spotlight Event.
“First Command is honored to partner with the Naval Academy Athletic Association as a proud sponsor of the athletic program at the U.S. Naval Academy,” said Scott Spiker, chairman/CEO of First Command and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (class of 1977). “We see this agreement as a clear demonstration of our support of the Navy and the Naval Academy and another example of our continuing commitment to programs that matter to service members. We are committed to enriching the lives of the men and women of America's career military at all stages of their careers.”
Navy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk noted that “First Command Financial Services has a long history supporting those who serve. First Command joined the Navy Athletics Corporate family last year, and we are ecstatic to earn their expanded and long term support. Quality people with a wonderful mission, they are not only great friends to the Academy, but are bringing a very positive influence on our midshipmen. We appreciate them very much.”
About Navy Athletics
The Naval Academy Athletic Association, founded in 1891 by Robert Means Thompson, is a 501C3 non–profit organization whose objective is to “promote, influence, and assist in financing the athletic contests of the midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy” in accordance with the policy of the Superintendent of the Academy. Through an intercollegiate athletic program that is one of the largest in the country, and a highly organized club sports program and intramural sports program, each midshipman, male and female, is afforded the opportunity to compete in athletics at a level commensurate with his or her abilities. The emphasis on physical fitness is borne out in the first line of the mission of the Naval Academy: To develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically.
