Why military spouses make great financial advisors

May 23rd, 2019 | 2 min. read

Military spouses are ideally suited to financial advisor careers coaching service member families in their pursuit of financial security

Military spouses possess several key traits that can make them great financial coaches. They are:

  • Highly educated. Many military spouses are college graduates or have advanced degrees.
  • Resilient. When a service member is deployed, the spouse stays behind to take charge of the family (almost like a single parent).
  • Driven to support their families financially. Our surveys show that most military spouses are working or currently seeking employment

And First Command is a great place to pursue a military spouse career as a financial coach. Most of our offices are located near military installations, and skills developed in one First Command office are transferrable to other offices. These are both great advantages for spouses who must PCS to a new location. First Command offers opportunities for development and training and career growth over time. And finally, First Command offers military spouses the opportunity to improve the lives of other military families.
