FORT WORTH, Texas — First Command Financial Services, Inc. announced today that it has been named a top employer of military veterans and spouses by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines.

First Command has been designated a Military Friendly Employer® for the second straight year, and it has earned the No. 11 spot on the Top 50 Military Spouse Employers List.

Companies competed for the elite Military Friendly Employer® title via a data-driven survey of over 5,000 companies with resulting survey data independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media. Criteria for the survey included a benchmark score across key programs and policies such as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs, and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.

“We are committed to recruiting military veterans and spouses as the next generation of First Command Financial Advisors,” said Scott Spiker, CEO of First Command. “Our goal is to recruit more than 2,100 over the next five years to meet the growing demand for our face-to-face service delivered in the communities where servicemembers live and work. Military families are facing unique personal finance challenges. Many struggle with daily personal finance challenges related to monthly budgeting, emergency savings and debt. Their worries are exacerbated by uncertainties regarding long-term career options and future fiscal health. Military families need the help of knowledgeable and trustworthy Financial Advisors right now, perhaps more than ever.”

Now in its 11th year, Military Friendly Employers® media bills itself as the premier resource for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment. Each year companies taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Advisory Board consisting of leaders in the military recruitment community. A full list of board members can be found at
