February 12, 2026
FORT WORTH, Texas – First Command Financial Services, Inc. announced Master Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Heath B. Jones joined the First Command Military Advisory Board, effective December 5, 2025.
“Since our establishment in 1958, First Command has focused on equipping military families with the knowledge and guidance they need to pursue long‑term financial confidence,” said Mark Steffe, president and CEO of First Command. “We are proud to welcome Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard (Ret.) Heath B. Jones to our Military Advisory Board. As the Coast Guard’s senior enlisted leader and a lifelong advocate for service members and their families, Master Chief Jones brings a deep understanding of the real‑world challenges military families face across a career and into life after service. His decades of operational and senior enlisted leadership will be invaluable as we continue working with our Military Advisory Board toward our Mission of coaching those who serve in their pursuit of lifelong financial security.”
Master Chief Jones concluded more than 30 years of distinguished service in 2025, culminating as the 14th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard (MCPOCG), the Coast Guard’s senior enlisted leader and principal advisor to the Commandant on personnel and operational matters. A career Boatswain’s Mate, Jones served extensively afloat and ashore, including leadership roles aboard four cutters and at multiple small boat stations. His operational assignments ranged from first lieutenant and executive petty officer to officer in charge, earning him more than 11 years of sea service and recognition as the 16th Silver Ancient Mariner, an honor reflecting longevity and mastery at sea.
A defining point of pride in Jones’ career was his sustained service in senior enlisted leadership roles, including time as command master chief at the Sector, District, Area, and Headquarters levels prior to his selection as MCPOCG. Widely respected for his advocacy for service members and families, he received multiple personal and unit leadership awards and is known for pairing operational credibility with a people‑first approach. His commitment to professional development through the Chief Petty Officers Academy, senior enlisted leadership education, and advanced academic degrees, underscores a career dedicated to strengthening the Coast Guard’s mission and the well‑being of those who serve beside and behind it.
“Throughout my career, I saw firsthand how financial readiness directly affects mission readiness,” said Master Chief Jones. “Serving on First Command’s Military Advisory Board allows me to continue advocating for service members and families by helping ensure they have the knowledge, tools, and support they need to make confident financial decisions at every stage of service and beyond.”
