FORT WORTH, Texas — For the ninth consecutive year, First Command Financial Services, Inc., is proud to join forces with other military-friendly companies to sponsor the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl - the original collegiate football bowl game that honors all five branches of the U.S. military.

Kicking off at 11:00 a.m. CST on Jan. 2 at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl will feature the University of Pittsburgh Panthers and the University of Houston Cougars. The game will air on ESPN as well as the Armed Forces Bowl Radio Network.

Since 2003, the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl has supported military charities, including the Airpower Foundation, American Red Cross, Armed Services YMCA and Military Warriors Support Foundation. The game celebrates America’s military capabilities and culture through all branches of the military, with a presentation of the “Great American Patriot Award” on-field at halftime.

Leading up to game day, fans can attend the Team Welcome Reception in downtown Fort Worth on Dec. 29, purchase tickets to the Team Kickoff Luncheon on Dec. 30 and a free Pep Rally on Dec. 31. On game day, First Command representatives will be on hand for the pre-and-post game activities at the Veterans Village and the Armed Forces Adventure Area just outside Amon G. Carter Stadium, where there will be a full exhibition area featuring interactive displays, military hardware, games and prizes, plus a post-game concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.

“First Command is honored to offer our men and women in uniform and their families this special opportunity to experience and enjoy this patriotic sporting event,” said Scott Spiker, CEO of First Command. “We view our support of the Lockheed Martin Armed Force Bowl as a clear demonstration of the sense of partnership we feel with all of the armed forces and our civic commitment to the Fort Worth community.”
