FORT WORTH, Texas — Servicemembers and their families are preparing to celebrate their frugal ways again this holiday shopping season. First Command Financial Services, Inc. has assembled a few of their most helpful tips for the Winter 2013-2014 issue of Journey, the online magazine for First Command clients.

Titled “Five Ways To Spend Less on Holiday Gifts,” the story reports that middle-class military families suggest cutting back on holiday shopping by:

  • Setting a maximum amount to spend on gifts
  • Giving gifts to fewer people
  • Giving fewer gifts per person
  • Buying gifts from discount stores
  • Making gifts
