He legitimately cared about showing us how we could pursue financial security for the future.

As a couple who married young, we have always taken pride that we financially take care of ourselves without anyone’s help. In recent years, we became more aware that though we were doing well, we could use guidance to prepare for the future – both near and far. The money we saved that was just sitting in an account could be making money as it sits. In steps in our advisor, John Grace III. During a military welcome event, my husband met with John and instantly knew we needed to see what First Command was all about.

Our first appointment was just that. We got to know John and First Command‘s financial planning philosophy, and the services First Command could provide. John was very patient with us over the next couple of months. Several life events happened and a few ‘we need to reschedule’ calls had to be made, but John was always understanding. Each appointment we attended just gave us more knowledge and understanding of working with an advisor with regard to pursuing our financial goals. John broke everything down for us to understand and when we didn’t understand, he didn’t just move along. He took the time to explain until we did. He was never pushy or came off like he was selling anything to us. He legitimately cared about showing us how we could pursue financial security for the future. It also helped immensely that he had retired from the Army and had a deep understanding of how the retirement system works. While it’s outstanding that it’s there, it’s not something that gets very well explained until you’re going through it. John was patient and thorough when explaining how retirement benefits work and what we could do now to prepare ourselves for it.

We wish we had discovered First Command sooner, but we are so happy we did, when we did, because we met John. We hope to keep him as our advisor for many years to come, even through future moves.
